how_to_improve_click_through_ratesAfter doing hundreds of webinars, Brenda and I have learned a few cool tips and tricks that give us a competitive advantage over everyone else doing webinars.

And in today’s episode you’re going to learn a simple hack that will get you more clicks from your webinar post-registration emails. (and it only takes a couple minutes to setup and you never have to touch it again)

Note: if you are not already familiar with our simplistic but powerful webinar model, you can check out Episode #37 – “How To Automate & Stabilize Your Business Income” – It’s NOT required learning to implement this hack …however, if you’re serious about using webinars to scale your business, then you’ll definitely want to familiarize yourself with our process.

And while today’s trick is simple in theory, we’ve found that for whatever reason, most people just don’t do it. (which doesn’t make sense because it only takes a few minutes to setup)

Before I can explain the ‘hack’ you need to understand the job of the show up series.

The point of the “show up” series…

When someone registers for your webinar, your job is to get them to show up. One great way to do this is to have a dedicated email series that goes out to them after they register, encouraging them to show up. (aka – selling them)

We call this the “show up series”.

There are several different approaches that you can take with your show up series, but that’s not what this episode is about.

This episode is to show you a simple hack that will automatically get more clicks out of those emails.

So what is the hack?

Well regardless of what approach you take in your show up series, each one of those emails should have a clickable link.

the hack…

Before you add a link to your show up series, go create a pretty link for it.

This way, you can go back later, after the webinar is over, and redirect that pretty link to wherever you want. (eg. a page that takes them to a replay of your webinar)

When you do that, all of your links in your emails will be dynamically updated. So when someone clicks on one of your links in an email after a webinar is already over, they will ALWAYS have the option to click a link that is UP TO DATE.

(hint: if they click, they are interested in that exact moment – for the most part (unless you are strategically doing it to condition your list) it’s a good idea to have something for them to watch immediately.

how to do it…

It’s simple to do… It takes just a few minutes to implement.

#1 – Review your show up series emails…

#2 – Anytime you link out make sure that you are linking out to a pretty link. (rather than linking directly out to the gotowebinar show up link, or whatever – i don’t even like linking out directly to the replay – i use a pretty link for that as well)

#3 – Anytime something changes in your funnel (like the webinar is over, or you change up the presentation, or create a new webinar) go back to those emails and redirect the pretty links a page that makes the most sense for a “late clicker”

The more webinars you do, the more money you will make.

And if you are doing consistent webinars, these “late clicks” will start to add up very quickly. (way faster than you might imagine) …and by simply thinking about where these people are going after the fact, and then redirecting them to an option that makes more sense to them, you will automatically have more exposure for your next webinar…

…without doing any extra work.

And from what we can tell, the “late clickers” don’t even typically realize that they are clicking late… They just know that they like what they see in the email, so they click through…

So if they hit a page that says “hey, sorry but you missed the live version of this training, but here’s the recording for you to view in the next __ hours, days, forever, etc…” whatever.

Take Action

If you are doing regular webinars, here’s what you need to do yesterday. (you’ll thank us in a few weeks when sales start coming in during the middle of the week from a webinar you did the previous week)

  • read through your entire “show up” series…
  • make sure all links out are being redirected through a pretty link of some sort
  • tune in again tomorrow for more cool stuff 🙂

If you are NOT doing regular webinars in your business…

  • think of the other places this hack can be used in your business.

(hint: the step1 and step2 links that we use at the bottom of every post can be dynamically updated by simply redirecting the pretty links – it takes 2 minutes rather than 2 hours copy and pasting new links)
